Description
Balsamorhiza sagitata (Arrowleaf Balsamroot)
Balsamroot common to most of eastern WA
Although this species isn’t usually found growing around Tri-Cities, it is the most common balsamroot in eastern WA. Gray hair covers the leaves and stems giving them a soft feel and olive-green color. Single flowers on stems are about 4″ across, larger than Carey’s balsamroot. Blooms in summer. This species takes several years to mature enough to bloom. Be patient. Photo by Ben Legler
