Sambucas cerulea (Blue elderberry)
Large, white flower clusters followed by numerous blue berries
This tall, deciduous shrub has multiple stems bearing abundant clusters of flowers up to 5″ across in late spring and early summer. Small dark blue berries in late summer into fall provide food for birds. Berries are edible when cooked but should not be eaten uncooked. Photo by Jane Abel
