Description
Phoenicaulis cheirantoides (Daggerpod)
A rounded raceme of pink to purple flowers
Found in the shrub-steppe, this perennial has a tuft of oblong leaves from 1-7″ long growing from a woody crown. Flower stems have smaller leaves and a rounded raceme of beautiful, pink to purple flowers at the end of the stem. The name Daggerpod comes from the long, slightly curved seed pods (siliques) that follow. Needs very sharp drainage and little to no extra water. Photo by Steve Link.
