Helianthella uniflora (False Sunflower)
Handsome “sunflower” with multiple stems when mature
Single bright yellow “sunflowers” bloom in summer on top of each stem growing in a cluster from a woody base. Flowers up to 3″ across. Leaves are oblong and green with a somewhat rough texture. Grows in dry open woods and meadows in the Blue Mountains and eastern Cascades. Photo by Mickie Chamness
