Description
Hesperostipa comata (needle-and-thread grass)
Erect and graceful grass
Needle-and-thread grass gets its name from the seeds, which have sharp points and slender awns up to 7″ long. This is a long-lived perennial that loves sandy soil but does well in other soil types as well. May not be suitable for people with dogs roaming through their native garden. Photo by Mickie Chamness
