Description
Pinus ponderosa (Ponderosa pine)
A large, native tree adapted to dry sites – cinnamon colored bark when mature
This large tree is very common in areas of eastern Washington with a little more precipitation than we have here. May not be suitable for a small urban/suburban yard. They grow at a moderate rate of 12-24″ a year. Young trees have reddish-brown bark that is cinnamon colored when mature. Three needles in a cluster are up to 8″ long and yellowish-green.
