Description
Koeleria macrantha (Prairie junegrass)
Upright medium-sized bunchgrass
Prairie junegrass grows in sandy to rocky soil, forming a dense clump of upright leaves. The flowerhead is a showy spike of light green turning to tan as the flowers open up and turn to seeds around the spike. May need a little more water than we get as rain in Tri-Cities. Photo by Mickie Chamness.
