Description
Allium acuminatum (tapertip onion)
Striking pink to magenta ball of flowers
Tapertip onion grows in a variety of habitats from low elevations in very dry conditions to grasslands and rocky areas at middle elevations. Looks much like chives, with the bulb sending up slender green leaves first, followed by a flower stem with a striking pale pink to magenta cluster of flowers at the top. Photo by Ben Legler.
NOTE: will be dormant and pot may look empty, but the roots have been checked and look healthy.
