Description
Artemisia tridentata (Big sagebrush)
Long-Lived Shrub
Sagebrush, with its silvery green leaves and branching form, is an iconic plant of the west. Under dry conditions it is slow growing. Where there is little competition or it receives extra water, it can grow quickly and sometimes becomes leggy. Seedheads can be removed in the winter, but this plant doesn’t regrow from pruned branches, unlike many other garden shrubs. Reseeds itself readily. Photo by Mickie Chamness
